Travel Past the Hard Times

Total role reversal today. After going on 3 international trips over the last 5 months, it was my parents’ turn for a vacation.

Taken today before leaving for a cruise to the Bahamas.

Two years ago my Mom went to the hospital with trouble breathing. After 2 weeks in the hospital they couldn’t find out what was causing this. Two more extended hospital stays, countless tests, and having to be on 24/7 oxygen, they never found out how exactly this happened.

Fast forward through 18 months of struggle, prayer, and her amazing positive attitude and strong will, and my Mom is 100% healed!  Her doctor said he has never had a patient go off of oxygen after they had been put on it. That alone speaks volumes of my Mom’s strong will and determination.

I was so happy to get this text today!

As much as I love to travel the world, I know there is no replacing the community that I’m a part of here on the Westside of Cincinnati. I’m so grateful to everyone who sent us dinners, prayed for my Mom’s recovery, helped look after my little brother, and kept us going while my Mom was healing. There is no way we could have done this without you.

Aboard the ship enjoying themselves!

The way my family rallied around us during a difficult past two years is so inspiring. I’m blessed to be a part of such a close family.

This vacation had been on hold for two years and I couldn’t be more excited for them to enjoy a well deserved trip. During this whole ordeal, my Dad was exactly the man you dream about to care for you when you get sick. I’m so lucky to have such incredible parents who show me what a strong marriage and faith looks like.

After taking the photo above my Dad says, “Let’s take one looking into each other’s eyes.” Such a goofball!

For a while I never thought a happy day like this would be possible. Thanks for sharing in my joy and excitement!

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate getting through these last two years. Once a travel family, always a travel family.

I’m ready to enjoy my 5 day staycation with my little brother!

Cheers to good health and adventures ahead!

Bridget
